Air data

Several times a day measuring stations of the German Environment Agency (UBA) and the German States measure data on ambient air quality in Germany. Shortly after the measurement you can use Germany-wide maps and graphs to get informed about currently measured values and forecasts. Further you can find air quality data sorted by station of the past years.

Please note: current data represent preliminary values which are subject to change due to quality assurance. Back dated values are successively replaced by quality assured values.

Annual tabulation

+
The daily mean value of PM₁₀ must not exceed 50 μg/m³ more than 35 times in the calendar year. The annual mean value must not exceed 40 µg/m³. CO levels above 10 mg/m³ (highest daily 8-hour average) must not occur. Ozone levels above 120 μg/m³ (highest daily 8-hour average) should occur on maximum of 25 days of the calendar year, averaged over 3 years. Hourly means above 180 µg/m³ are counted as exceedance of the information threshold, hourly means above 240 µg/m³ are counted as exceedance of the alert threshold. The AOT40 shall not exceed 18,000 µg/m3 ·h (averaged over 5 years). The long-term objective is not to exceed 6,000 µg/m3 ·h per year. Hourly mean values must not exceed 350 μg/m³ more than 24 times in the calendar year. The daily mean value of SO₂ must not exceed 125 μg/m³ more than 3 times in the calendar year. The annual mean value of NO₂ must not exceed 40 µg/m³. Hourly mean values must not exceed 200 μg/m³ more than 18 times in the calendar year. The annual mean value must not exceed 0.5 µg/m³. That corresponds to 500 ng/m³. The annual mean value shall not exceed 1 ng/m³. The annual mean value of benzene must not exceed 5 µg/m³. The annual mean value of PM2.5 must not exceed 25 µg/m³. The annual mean value shall not exceed 6 ng/m³. The annual mean value shall not exceed 5 ng/m³. The annual mean value shall not exceed 20 ng/m³.

* Pursuant to § 20 or § 21 of Directive 2008/50/EC, exceedances of the PM₁₀ daily mean limit value due to natural sources or gritted sand or salt may be deducted by winter road clearance services.

* Passive collectors with monthly mean values cannot record hour overruns due to time resolution.

* AOT40: Accumulated Ozone Exposure over a threshold of 40 ppb. It is the accumulated excess of hourly ozone concentrations above 80 μg/m³ (between 8:00 and 20:00 CET in the growth season).
