Whether at home, at work, at school, travelling by car, or going by plane or in our free time – we spend most of our time indoors. With every breath we inevitably take up pollutants that are present in our indoor environment. Ensuring a good indoor air quality is therefore a vital task for all those being responsible for the protection of public health and the environment.
The International Conference on Risk Assessment of Indoor Air Chemicals aims at raising the awareness of the impact of the indoor environment on health and wellbeing. We would like to discuss concerns about indoor air quality with stakeholders, scientists, and decision-makers and develop proposals for its improvement. A variety of activities designed to ensure and maintain a good indoor air quality will be presented and discussed by international experts from science, policy, and industry. The participants are asked to:
- share the information on national and international initiatives for healthy indoor air quality
- take a critical look at health effects and risks related to the exposure to chemicals in indoor air
- discuss the current challenges in the risk assessment of indoor air pollutants
- identify the possibilities for the joint actions.
The conference takes place in Berlin at the Umweltforum ("environmental forum") an exceptional location combining the atmosphere of an over 100 year old church with modern, environmentally friendly construction technology.
We invite all interested public health professionals, scientists, stakeholders and decision makers to join the conference and look forward to elucidating the next steps needed to make indoor air safer with colleagues from all over the world.
We are looking forward to seeing you in Berlin!
