Climate Change in Saxony-Anhalt - Vulnerability towards Climate Change Impacts

The content of the study is the description of regional climate changes in Saxony-Anhalt and identification of vulnerable regions.
The primary objective of this study is to analyse the susceptibility of different sectors in the state of Saxony-Anhalt, taking account of regional and local characteristics. This will be used to derive sector-specific options for action.
Climate and climate change in Saxony-Anhalt will be studied using the WETTREG and REMO regional models. Two different regional climate models have been used for the climate projection (WETTREG and REMO) with their results analysed for three emission scenarios. For the future projections, the analysis was carried out for short, medium and long-term changes, in line with the scenario periods. For some analyses, additional modelling results from the STAR statistical model were used.
all climate parameters of the regional climate models
Periods 1961-1990 as base period, and the future periods 2011-2040, 2041-2070, 2071-2100
Description of the climate effects for the sectors biodiversity and conservation, agriculture, forestry, viticulture, phenology, soil conservation, water management and flood protectionis the main content of the study.
A vulnerability analysis will be carried out for the sectors specified above.
Options for actions as a response to particular regional, local or sectoral effects of changed climatic conditions will be highlighted. Specific climate change adaptation measures will be outlined in a separate strategy for the state of Saxony-Anhalt.
