The 'Blue Angel Prize' contest has been launched for the fourth time in the framework of the German Sustainability Award. The prize distinguishes companies which support the cause of the Blue Angel ecolabel in an extraordinary way and thereby excel in their efforts to help protect the environment. The prize is offered by the Environmental Label Jury, the Federal Ministry for the Environment, the Federal Environment Agency and the RAL gGmbH.

The deadline for contest submissions is 15 July 2015. Any enterprise which produces goods or services that bear the Blue Angel is eligible for entry. This year the Jury is paying special attention to positive environmental and climate protection effects which result from corporate commitment to the Blue Angel.

Federal Environment Minister Barbara Hendricks said: "The companies whose products bear the Blue Angel have used the ecolabel to steadily improve the environmental scorecard of their products. This prize is meant to acknowledge companies with a high level of commitment and to persuade even more producers to label their products with the Blue Angel. The Blue Angel has been a reliable indicator of green products and services to consumers for over 35 years.”

Maria Krautzberger, President of the Federal Environment Agency, said: "The Blue Angel Prize 2015 distinguishes companies which have made exemplary contributions to protecting the environment and climate with their Blue Angel products or services. Products which have the Blue Angel ecolabel put less strain on the environment and climate, for example because they are especially energy-saving, or reduce soil, water, or air emissions to the greatest extent possible, or have an exceptionally long service life."

The Blue Angel prize is being awarded for the fourth year in a row. Nominees and winners of the contest are selected by the German Sustainability Award jury, which represents industry, research, environmental associations, and government. The award ceremony for the Blue Angel Prize will take place on German Sustainability Day 2015 on 27 November in Düsseldorf.

Companies are invited to submit their applications at www.blauer-engel-preis.de.
