Tackling Climate Change by Clean Air Policies & Waste Management

In the context of the climate conference COP 21 in Paris, the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) and the German Environment Agency (UBA) organise the Side Event „Tackling Climate Change by Clean Air Policies and Advanced Waste Management“ at the German Pavillon.

UBA and GIZ actively promote synergies between greenhouse gas mitigation and relevant sector policies through integrated approaches, focusing in particular on clean air policies and advanced waste management. The focus lies on mitigation potentials, co-benefits and criteria for policy design and implementation. The side event aims to discuss: 

  • Why is it beneficial to integrate sectoral and climate change mitigation policies?
  • What are potential challenges in designing an integrated approach?
  • How are integrated approaches already put into practice and what are key steps to better integrate sector and climate change mitigation policies?
