How much water is used in Germany and for what purposes? What are the pressures on our waters? What is being done about it? Find out the answers to these and many other questions in our two-part Water Resource Management in Germany publication.

The publication targets expert groups and the interested public both in Germany and abroad. It has been updated in 2014 and reports in tried and tested form on the principles and structures of Germany's water resource management and its links to the international arena. It addresses developments in connection with the implementation of the Water Framework Directive in Germany and refined water legislation. The updated publication illustrates which solutions have proven successful in Germany to cope with urgent problems in water resource management such as coping with water pollution. However, it also points to the challenges which the sector faces in Germany, for example the risks of the fracking technology for groundwater.
