In the context of the climate conference COP 21 in Paris, the German Environment Agency organises the Side Event „Towards Carbon Neutrality – 100 % RE and more“ at the German Pavillon.

In introductory speeches national decarbonisation strategies will be presented and their transferability to an international level discussed. One focus is on cross-sectoral approaches due to the understanding that decarbonisation goes beyond an RES based electricity sector.

Target groups are representatives of professional journals and of the daily press and specialised public from different countries (Government, NGO and civil society members from OECD states, emerging economies and developing countries, UN officials).

Participants

  • Dr. Barbara Hendricks (Federal Minister for the Environment, Nature Conservation, Building and Nuclear Safety, Germany)
  • Dr. Edgar E. Gutiérrez-Espeleta (Minister of Environment and Energy, Costa Rica)
