Blue Angel Award 2013 goes to Heller-Leder company
The Blue Angel Award 2013 goes to the Heller-Leder GmbH & Co company in this 35th anniversary year of the ecolabel. Mr Jochen Flasbarth, President of the Federal Environment Agency, conferred the ward on the company at an awards ceremony during events held for the German Sustainability Award in Düsseldorf on 22 November. read more
Registry for battery producers proves to be a success
The Federal Environment Agency has managed the Battery Act register for four years, now. 5,000 producers have registered, thousands of tonnes of metals are recovered through recycling every year. read more
Drinking water to become lead-free – new standard for lead in drinking water
The final exit of lead pipes in the drinking water supply system is becoming fact – on 1 December 2013. The new upper limit for lead will then become effective: no more than 0.010 mg per litre of drinking water. Since levels in lead pipes are normally higher, they must be replaced with more appropriate materials. read more
Bundespreis Ecodesign prize is awarded
The Federal Ministry for Environment (BMU) and the Federal Environment Agency (UBA) awarded the second annual Bundespreis Ecodesign prize today.
